i hope it's me.

she only talks when shes drunk
well lucky for you, shes always drunk
and she'll never let you forget
how we had to pump her stomach clean
to get rid of all of the loose threads
that got left there from when she was a sewing machine
the last thing you ever see
will be burned into the back of your eyes
and your last couple thoughts
will grow out written in your hair
for the next few years
i hope its me, i hope its me
i wanna be written on your body
i wanna make a lot of money
but i don't wanna work for it
i wanna remember my dreams from every time i sleep
i guess the american dream takes real american sleep
my bed sheets still dream about being ghosts
but when they wake up, i'll bet they'll haunt you the most
i hope its me, i hope its me
i hope its me, i hope its me
i hope its me, i hope its me
i wanna be written on your body

i just want to be clean
i don't remember when it was i started hating everything
taking showers in numbers and bathing in math
you held my head underwater so i could learn to subtract
i think that had something to do with it
yeah, i think that has something to do with it
oh well, i cant keep blaming all my problems on other people
no, i cant keep blaming all my problems on other people
i cant keep blaming all my problems on other people, anymore
i am an old man just like my father
my face is getting older now
all my hair is falling out
the same things happen everyday
and we've got no one else to blame but ourselves
the same things happen everyday
and we've got no one else to blame but ourselves
the same things happen everyday
and we've got no one else to blame but ourselves
the same things happen everyday
and we've got no one else to blame but ourselves

connecticut girls.

got your arms all crossed like jesus christ
i love you, yeah i love you
you're going to miss me right?
i love you, yeah i swear i do
this is a good place to live
all those connecticut girls stretched out their skin
since the last time that you saw them
in the summer, when you left
lately i've been sleeping so strange
and dreaming about the places that i've been
and not about where i am
i don't owe you nothing man
i don't owe you nothing man, no i don't
this is a good place to live
and here is a a graph
of all the things that i can get away with
its at least ninety percent accurate
so follow me, so you can be a part of it
so follow me, just follow me

jules verne's wet dream.

i spent the whole winter getting stoned
and i'm glad i'm finally getting over that
like jules verne, i woke up all wet
from dreaming about the sea

tennis.
03:11
|
|||
i spent my entire last summer playing tennis by myself
and watching all the movies sitting on the bottom shelf
yeah, they said that being alone was bad for me
yeah, they said that being alone was bad
but like satan in the eighties, i've got no real friends
but everyone keeps talking about me
my mom came in asked me what the racket was
i told her i was doing just what my father does
moving on too fast, because nothing ever last
yeah, nothing ever makes us happy
i don't think about god much anymore
but last sunday i threw up on a church bathroom floor
and i've thought about him a lot since then
i guess that's what it feels like to be born again
if life was a game of tennis, i'd zero you
but i spent the whole summer learning all the rules
and like that kid found dead on a bedroom floor,
i learned that love means nothing
yeah, i've learned that love means nothing

carpet whiskey.
03:25
|
|||
my best friend drinks too much
he does it to stay warm
there's a burning in his throat
that's been there since he was born
carpet whiskey
and broken glass by the pool
even at our worst,
we're still better than most
yeah, but life is so cruel
we waited all day
for fifteen minutes of explosions in the sky
i saw you by the library
but it just wasn't right
carpet whiskey
and blood stains on my shirt
even at our worst,
we're still better than most
but why does it still hurt?
